GOLF CHALLENGE SHIELD CONTEST (“Times-Age” Special.) The fifth round of the Challenge Shield played by members of the Featherston Golf Club, resulted: W. H. Rowles 1, H. R. Bloxam 2. The sth eclectic competition resulted: H. R. Bloxam 1, J. McCullam and W. H. Rowles (equal) 2. The club will hold its closing day next Saturday. Soldiers’ Dance There was a record attendance at the soldiers’ dance held in the Town Hall on Saturday night. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs Ashton’s orchestra and extras were given by Misses M. and N. Tocker, G. Fraser and C. Saba. Mr Ashton was M.C. The competitions resulted: Monte Carlo, Mr R. Te Tau and Mrs J. McKenna. Eox of chocolates, Mrs McMullen. Personal Miss M. Fauvel, Wellington, is the guest of Miss Ann Fellingham. Mrs W. Alexander, Palmerston North, was a weekend visitor to Mr and Mrs H. Lawsen. COSY THEATRE “BEAU GESTE” ON WEDNESDAY. On Wednesday, at the Cosy Theatre, Featherston, the attraction will be “Beau Geste.” The leading roles are taken by Gary Cooper, Ray Milland and Robert Preston.
