OBITUARY

MR C. N. COLE The death occurred at Masterton today of a well-known resident in Mr Charles Nicholson Cole, of 19 Wrigley Street. The late Mr Cole, who was born in Masterton 53 years ago. was a returned soldier of the 1914-1918 war. He was engaged in business as a painter and paperhanger for many years and he was a keen hockey supporter and referee. Mr Cole was a number of the Druids, and Masonic lodges. Mr Cole had twenty years’ service with the Masterton Volunteer Fire Brigade and competed in various demonstrations in New Zealand and was delegate to the Dominion Fire Brigades’ conference. He is survived by a brother, Mr Fred Cole, of Masterton (a member of the Wairarapa Armed Forces Appeal Board); a son, Maxwell Cole, R.N.Z.A.F.. and an infant daughter. The funeral will take place in Masterton on Wednesday, leaving the chapel Tit Hyde’s Funeral Service following a service at 2 p.m., for the cemetery.
