ALLIED ATTACK
ON WHOLE EASTERN SECTOR REPORTED BY VICHY RADIO. CONTINUED ENEMY RETREAT IN CENTRE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, October 8. According to the Vichy radio, the Allies have made further landings in the Termoli area and General Montgomery simultaneously launched a concentrated attack supported by a considerable number of tanks, on the siderable number o f tanks, on the whole length of the eastern sector. The British Navy supported the landings, and is also continuously shelling the German positions. On the central sector the German withdrawal north-eastward continues.
