OBITUARY
4. DR. R. I. SUTTON. The death occurred in Napier on Thursday morning of Dr. Rupert Ingram Sutton, who practised the profession of dentistry in Napier for many years and was well known throughout the district. Dr. Sutton was born at Masterton and educated at the Masterton Central School and Wellington College, later going to Philadelphia to study dentistry, where he obtained his D.D.S. degree. He went to Edinburgh to further his studies, and there gained his L.D.S. degree. He served in the Great War in the Dental Corps in Egypt. A talented musician. Dr. Sutton was well known in musical circles and was pianist to the Napier Savage Club for many years, being the possessor of a Golden Tiki for distinguished membership. He was. a past president of the Napier Operatic Society and Napier Choral Society, and held the position of organist at Trinity Methodist Church for a long period. Up till the time of his final illness he was acting organist at St. John’s Cathedral. Dr. Sutton was also a prominent member of the Napier Rotary Club. He leaves a wife, formerly Miss Eileen French, a young daughter, and one son, now overseas with the Royal New Zealand Navy, besides two brothers, Messrs. W. Sutton (Hawera) and A. Sutton (Feilding), and a sister, Mrs. R. Hooper (Palmerston North). Mr. S. H. Ralph (Masterton) is an uncle.
