WEDDING
MINTON—DAVIES The marriage took place on Saturday afternoon at St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, of Una Doreen, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. J. Davies, of Masters Crescent, and Roger Montford, second son of Mr and the late Mrs J. H. Minton, of South Road, Masterton. The ceremony was conducted by the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated with cream lilies, freesias and orange blossom by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of heavy cream satin cut on classical lines with a lace yoke. The train fell to a point with lace godets let in. The beautiful embroidered veil, kindly lent by a friend, was held in place with a coronet of lilies. The bride carried a bouquet of freesias and maiden-hair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Peggy Davies (chief), a sister of the bride, and Miss Lexie Webber, a friend of the bride. They wore frocks of powder blue georgette with full bodices set into wide bands and very full skirts. They wore halos of blue pleated georgette with rosebuds of blue net and touches of silver and carried bouquets of cyclamen in the form of a lover’s knot with silver ribbon. On the end of the ribbon was a horseshoe of cyclamen. They wore gold lockets, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Sergeant Frances Minton, of the R.N.Z.A.F., as best man and A.C.2 Ted Sanko. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by little lan McMaster. The reception was held at the Masonic Hall. The guests were received by Mrs F. J. Davies, mother of the bride, who was attired in a model frock of dove grey with navy accessories and a shoulder spray of viola. She was assisted by Miss Minton, aunt of the bridegroom, who was dressed in a wine frock with hat to match and wore a shoulder spray of spring flowers. The beautiful three-tiered wedding cake was made by Miss Peggy Davies, sister of the bride. When Mr and Mrs R. M. Minton left for the north the bride wore a model frock of dusky pink with black accessories and a fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom. Their future home will be in Masterton.
