MASTERTON POSTMASTER

1 MR. M. M. SIMPSON RETIRING. OVER 43 YEARS’ SERVICE. In accordance with the retirement policy recently decided on, Mr. M. M. Simpson, who has been Postmaster at Masterton for the past five years, will cease duty with the Department at the end of next month. Mr. Simpson joined the Department at Auckland on February 20. 1900, and after gaining experience in every branch of the service in various post offices in the North Island, he was transferred to Head Office where he eventually reached the position of Principal of the Property Division. Prior to coming to Masterton, Mr. Simpson was Postmaster at Gore and during the last war he was Postmaster at Waiwera, North Auckland. Since the outbreak of war Mr Simpson has been chairman, of- the district Oil Fuel Advisory Committee, Controller of the E.P.S. Communications section, and Rationing Officer. Mr. R. A. Nace, Postmaster, Paeroa, will succeed Mr. Simpson at Masterton.
