FAREWELL TO THE FLEET DARK AND DANGEROUS DAYS RECALLED TRIBUTE TO ROYAL & MERCHANT NAVIES (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, October 5. In a message to the Fleet, Admiral Sir Dudley Pound, retiring First Sea Lord, expressed his great regret at giving up his four years’ task. He said he had been sustained through many dark and dangerous days by the fighting spirit of the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy. ' He asked for full co-operation for his successor, Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham.
