LOSS OF CORSICA
ANOTHER “SUCCESSFUL WITHDRAWAL.” REPORTED BY GERMANS. (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, October 5. A Berlin communique claims that all troops have been evacuated from Corsica, with their heavy arms, guns, tanks and vehicles. “The enemy was unable,” the communique adds, “to prevent the embarkation of our last demolition squads.” The German News Agency stated that the last German troops on Corsica were transierred to the Italian mainland'last night, and claimed that all military installations on the island had been destroyed.
