FEATHERSTON

FIREMAN HONOURED PRESENTATION OF GOLD STAR. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the Fire Brigade meeting held last night, Superintendent J. E. Tidswell presented Motorman H. F. Worseley with a 25 years- service gold star. In presenting this much coveted service honour, Supt. Tidswell made reference to the good work carried out by the recipient over a long period of years. He hoped that Motorman AVorsely would remain with the brigade and continue to give valuable service. Fireman E. Walker was also presented with a 2-year gold bar, having completed 35 years’ service. Reference was made to the good work that Fireman Walker had caried out in the interests of the brigade. Both recipients suitably responded. There are now six members of the brigade who possess gold stars. They are: Fireman A. Tait, 37 years’ service; Supt. J. E. Tidswell, 36 years; Fireman E Walker, 35 years; Fireman C. R. Skipage, 29 years; Fireman N. Taylor, 26 years, Motorman Worseley, 25 years. This is a record of which the brigade is .•justly proud and one which the residents fully appreciate. The good work which the fire brigade has carried out over a period of over forty years has been invaluable to the town of Featherston. Christmas Parcel Fund. 'There was a good attendance at the euchre party held in the Red Cross Society’s rooms yesterday afternoon, in aid of the Christmas Parcels Fund, Mrs O’Neale being the winner. The dinner donated by Mrs. Shepherd was won by Mrs. Wakely, and competitions were won by Mrs. Muir and Mrs. Sim. Donations were received from Mesdames Wakely, Bladen. McKenna, N. Matthews, Sadler and Miss Goodrick. COSY THEATRE “FLORIAN.” Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by the brilliant drama “Florian,” a story of the glamorous days of Austria before the Gredt War. The chief roles are taken by Robert Young, Helen Gilbert and Irina Baronova.
