AMERICA’S PART
IN SHAPING AND SAFEGUARDING PEACE DECLARATION BY LABOUR LEADER ISOLATIONISM MUST BE ABANDONED (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 10.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, October 4. The United States must abandon isolationism for ever,” declared Mr William Green, president of the American Federation of Labour, addressing the annual convention of that organisation at Boston. “The war has taught us that peaceful intentions are not enough. America must join with other nations of goodwill to preserve peace throughout the civilised world. That is why Labour demands a place at the peace table, to see to it that the will of the people is not thwarted by professional international diplomats.” Mr Green's statement that America cannot isolate herself evoked resounding applause.
