MASTERTON CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING SUPPLY OF BALLS. POSITION STILL OBSCURE. The annual meeting of the Masterton Lawn Tennis Club was held last night, Mr. E. M. Hodder presiding. It was reported that the position regarding a supply of tennis balls was obscure, as there was no indication when they would be made available. The meeting decided not to fix an official opening date in the meantime. The president. Mr. J. Jameson, did not seek re-election, and reference was made to his excellent services during his term of office.

The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. E. M. Hodder; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. Kennedy and J. Jamesen; club captain, Mr. W. Marchbank, committee, Messrs. C. K. Long, V. Joseph, P. Greenlees, Mrs. C. Tori, Misses. McWilliams and V. Watson; hon. secretary, Mr. B. J. Roache; hon. auditor, Mr. A. D. Low; delegates to the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association. Messrs. Hodder, Marchbank and Kennedy. A vote of thanks was passed to all who had assisted the chib during the past year. The anual report gave the membership for last season as 80, and in addition, it was stated that many service men made use of the courts. Reference was made to the good work of the treasurer, Miss U. Holtham. who had joined the W.R.E.N.S. The permanent amalgamation of the Memorial and Masterton chibs had resulted in a rearangement of finances. The cottage in Dixon Street was sold for a return of £517. An endowment policy amounting to £675 had matured and an overdraft was arranged with the Union Bank of Australia. With those funds the £ 1200 mortgage on the club’s properly and a loan of £2lO by Mr. H. M. Buddington, were repaid. There was now only one liability, an overdraft of £409 at the bank.
