ON SMALL SCALE

GERMAN ATTACK ON KOS IN DODECANESE GROUP ITALIAN TROOPS ASSISTING BRITISH GARRISON (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, October 3. The. Germans early today launched a seaborne and airborne attack against the recently occupied island of Kos, in the Dodecanese, says a Cairo communique. The necessary counter-mea-sures have been taken. Reuter’s Cairo correspondent says reliable quarters indicate that the attack was on a small scale. Repeated Luftwaffe attacks foreshadowed an attempt to recapture the island, which the Allies occupied soon after Italy capitulated. A substantial Italian force, which was allowed to keep its arms, is reinforcing the small British garrison.
