FEARS EXPRESSED

IN TOKIO AND BERLIN COMING ALLIED ATTACK IN BURMA. MAY EXTEND TO MALAYA AND SUMATRA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, October 1. The Japanese are rushing large reinforcements to Burma to meet the coming Allied offensive. Both Tokio and Berlin express fears that big Allied thrusts will be made soon against the Japanese in one or more areas. Reports suggest that the Japanese expect landings in Sumatra and Malaya as well as a thrust at Burma. The Berlin radio said today: ‘‘lnformation about enemy shipping off Ceylon and the transfer of large numbers of troops to eastern areas, make it likely that the Allies intend to launch an attack on Burma in the near future.”
