HOMING PIGEONS

MASTERTON CLUB RACE FROM TAUMARUNUI The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club held a race from Taumarunui, an airline distance of 150 miles, over the week-end. A strong south-westerly wind with scattered showers resulted in only fair flying times being registered. Altogether 50 birds were entered in the race and although rough weather scattered the birds the times of the placed birds were very close. The following were the results:—-N. Gardner’s “Red Eagle,” time, 4hrs 38 mins 20 secs, 1; A. Pinkney’s “Kitty-\ hawk,” 4hrs 40mins 15secs, 2; W. Steer’s “Red Rufus,” 4hrs 43mins 30secs, 3; Grant and Forrester’s “Black Musk,” 4 hrs 45mins 4secs, 4; Grant & Forrester’s “Speedo,” 4hrs 46mins 6secs, 5; Stewart & Son’s “Rainstorm,” 4hrs 47 mins Bsecs, 6. The next race will be from Waiouru.
