OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
AN EXPLANATION (To the Editor' Sir. —It has come to my knowledge that my remarks at a recent P. and A. meeting where I made reference to school teachers has givgn some offence. If this is so then I am sorry, as this was never intended or inferred. I was not correctly reported—what I said was* “that I could not blame the officers as many of them were school teachers, who did not understand farming practice. For instance, if they had understood what they were doing they would not have instructed the men to fill in the trenches on my property with manuka and cover over with a few inches of soil. These trenches had all to be emptied by the Public Works men and refilled with soil. This foolish error took some weeks to do and put the country to considerable expense.— Yours, etc., _ W. HOWARD BOOTH. W Carterton, October 1. The subject of the discussion to which our correspondent refers was the reported disappearance from the .Carterton Showgrounds of tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery and blankets—Ed.
