HEALTH STAMPS
BRISK DEMAND YESTERDAY IN MASTERTON. RECORD FIRST DAY SALES. Record sales of health stamps were 'reported at the Masterton Post Office i yesterday. Sales yesterday amounted to about £3O, which, compared with £l9 9s. 6d for the whole of October last year, gives a good idea of the popularity of this year’s issue. One reason for this ■popularity may be that the stamps are of triangular shape, the first of that kind issued in New Zealand. There are two denominations, a green Id for postage and Id foi’ health, with a portrait of Princess Margaret, and a brown '2d for postage and Id for health, with a portrait of Princess Elizabeth. The total sales recorded at the Masterton Post Office for last year’s health stamps was £44 16s 41d, so that there is every prospect that this year the total will reach record proportions.
