CARTERTON
VITAL STATISTICS FIGURES FOR SEPTEMBER (“Times-Age” Special.) There were eleven births, two marriages and three deaths registered in Carterton during September. During the past quarter 22 births, 4 marriages and 7 deaths were recorded. Sale of Bulbs Yesterday afternoon the members of the Carterton branch of the Plunket Society held a very successful sale of narcissi brought in from Mr W. Henry Booth’s property at Middle Run. The flowers, which were offered in fair sized bunches, found a ready sale. A competition for a child’s dressing gown made and donated by Mrs C. Teal was won by Mrs E. M. Playle, of Carterton. Collision Between Cars Last evening a collision between two cars occurred at the north end of the town and resulted in one car in which there were two soldiers being damaged. The occupants received minor cuts and abrasions. One of the drivers was arrested. He was later released on bail and is to appear before the S.M. Court on Wednesday. Tribal Dance There was a good attendance at the State Theatre, Carterton, last evening, when a dance was held under the auspices of the Carterton-Papawai-Grey-town Tribal Committees. A very enjoyable time was spent. Excellent music was provided by Mr Udy’s orchestra and extras were played by Mrs N. F. Teal and Messrs L. Mclntosh, and Pawai. A statue fox trot was won by Mr K. Matthews and Miss I. Wilson, and a Monte Carlo dance by Miss B. Bond and partner. Visitors were present from Masterton an?t Greytown. An excellent supper was provided.
