NEW ZEALAND AIRMEN

AWARDED AMERICAN DECORATIONS. ACHIEVEMENTS IN SOLOMONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, September 30. The Navy Department has announced that the Air Medal has been awarded to Flight Lieutenants R. S. Duncan and D. A. Grieg, and Flight Sergeant R. A. TVlart-in, of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The awards were made on behalf of President Roosevelt and the recipients were cited for meritorious achievement in action against the Japanese in the Solomons. Each aviator shot down a Zero and participated in numerous bombing missions and patrols, task force covers and strafing attacks. The citations add that the flyers’ skilful airmanship and determined fighting spirit contributed materially to the success of vital missions.
