FOOD PARCELS
FOR PRISONERS OF WAR I TEN MILLION SENT FROM BRITAIN , AND DOMINIONS. j DURING YEAR ENDED IN JUNE LAST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Ten million food parcels were sent to prisoners of war camps in Germany and Italy in the 12 months ending June 30 this year,, according to information received by the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office headquarters. Of this number, over six million were sent from the United Kingdom and a majority of the balance from Canada, the Argentine, Brazil and New Zealand. Australia does not pack food parcels and her quota is packed by the Canadian Red Cross. An International Red Cross Shanghai delegate spent over 20,000 Swiss francs in July, mainly on clothing for prisoners of war. Foodstuffs, medicines, toilet requisites and sports equipment were also bought for pri&». oners and civilian internees. Internees at Bangkok are reported to be well. The International Red Cross delegate spent over 100,000 Swiss francs in June on the relief of prisoners and internees in Hong Kong, and an agent for Singapore and the neighbouring coast spent 248,000 Swiss francs. Advice has been received that Stalag 8 B contains the largest number of British prisoners in Germany.
