FOR FAT AND FORWARD CATTLE. AT CARTERTON SALE YESTERDAY. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday: A fair entry came forward and competition was keen. Fat sheep values were well up to recent values and stores appreciated in prices. Foi’ fat and forward cattlo we have to record the highest prices this season. Store cows also made good money. Springers were of very poor quality and prices were low. Pigs sold very well. A total clearance was effected as under:— Sheep: tfat woolly b.f. hoggets. 29/6 to 31/-; fat woolly wether hoggets. 24/- to 28/-; prime woolly ewes, 27/9, light 15/- to 20/-; shorn ewes. 17/-; shorn fat wethers, 29/9; shorn fat b.f. wethers, 29/-; store wethers. 29/-; 2-tooth ewes, 25/6; w.w. hoggets, 24/10, medium 20/-; ewe hoggets, 24/-. Cattle: ' Springing heifers (good), £9 to £l3; small do., £5 10/- to £6 5/-; springing cows. £7 to £8 10/-; empty heifers, £4 10/; fat cows, £9 to £l3 15/-; medium cows. £6 JO/- to £8 5/-; store cows, £4 to £5 8/-: cull cows, 15/- to 36/-; bulls, £5 to £8 10/-. Pigs: Baconcrs, £3 14/-to £4; store pigs, £2 7/- to £2 19/-; slips, 38/- to £2 4/-; wcaners, 28/to 35/-: sow r.w. boar, £4; choppers, 35/to £2 7/6.
