BOWLING
WAIRARAPA CENTRE ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Bowling Centre was held at Greytown last night when Mr G. Hayne presided. Delegates stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of bowlers who had died during the past year. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The president presented the Centre certificates won by the Masterton Club at the New Year tournament. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr ' G. Hayne; vice-president, the Rev. W. F. Stent (re-elected); secretary, Mr H. Smith (re-elected); hon. auditor, Mr Roberts. The delegates expressed their appreciation of the work carried out by Mr Smith as secretary and it was decided that appreciation of his work be recorded in the minutes. In connection Avith the Booth Cup and Shield contests it was decided to divide the district into north and south areas, the winners of each area to play off in the final. Each club is to enter four teams. The winners will be awarded the Booth Cup and the run-ners-up the Shield. The games are to be played on the first Saturday in November and December. The annual New. Year tournament is to be held as usual. It was decided that the champion of champion games be played subject to the conditions being suitable. The pairs are to be played on the two-life system. In the singles each player is to meet the other. The champion fours are to be played on the one life system. The meeting decided that each club be asked to hold a patriotic tournament and that the proceeds be given to the Patriotic Funds. The centre fours competition is to be played under the present existing conditions. The secretary’s honorarium was fixed at £5 ss.
