NEW RATION BOOK
FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS STATEMENT BY CONTROLLER (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A new type of ration book will be on issue to expectant mothers as from today in accordance with an announcement made last night by the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr J. E. Thomas. This book, which is to be used till the child is six months old, includes special food coupons, in addition to clothing coupons, and will be issued in place of the special clothing card which has been in use up to the present. The only coupons immediately available are the three types of clothing coupons on sheet numbers 10 and 11, and these are available for clothing (25 coupons), wool (6 coupons), and infant linen (12 coupons), as indicated in the book. Clothing coupons may be used for linen and wool coupons for clothing, but not vice versa. The book will be available on application at all rationing offices and application forms are also in the hands of maternity hospitals for direct application to the Rationing Controller. Only new applicants are to apply for the book in the meantime. Those expectant mothers who have already received the special card of coupons are to continue to use them and may secure the supplementary book with the new general ration book on issue in a few weeks’ time.
