INDOOR BASKETBALL

WELLINGTON BEAT WAIRARAPA CONTESTS LAST EVENING Teams representing the Wairarapa Interhouse Association journeyed to Wellington last night to play indoor basketball matches with Wellington teams. In both games the Wellington teams outclassed the local teams and piled up large scores. The local teams were no match for the splendid positional play of the home teams but under the circumstances put up a good showing. In the senior game Wellington won by 43 to 9. For Wellington goals were scored as follows: N. Piper (10), M. Kahui (12), L. Rosoman (5), V. Taylor (14) and E. Alexander (2). For Wairarapa goals were scored by J. Gemmell (5), W. Nini (2), Mrs Ropata (2). In the senior B game Wellington won by 32 to 4. For Wellington goals were scored by T. Smith (9), V. Kitchener (17), M. Watkin (6). For Wairarapa, goals were scored by N. Stains (2), and D. Ranston (2). The referees were Dr Gallas and Mr H. Piper. On arrival in Wellington the local teams were most hospitably treated. The games were held after tea and supper, a community sing and a dance at the Y.M.C.A. followed. .
