RED STAR CRICKET CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING TEAMS TO BE ENTERED FOR COMPETITIONS. The annual meeting of the Red Star Cricket 1 Club was held in Masterton last night. Mr F. Hoar presided over a good attendance. It was decided to enter a team in the Wairarapa Cricket Association’s senior competition and to endeavour to enter a team in the junior grade if the Association decided to run a junior competition. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr L. J. Matthews (re-elected); president, Mr B. Ivesen (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs C. Perry, J. A. Betts, H. B. Thomas, W. Fly, G. Masters, F. Dohnt, P. Prescott and W. Joy; secretary, Mr G. B. Peterson (re-elected); treasurer, Mr A. Bell; club captain, Mr F. Hoar; delegates to the Wairarapa Cricket Association, Messrs F. Hoar, F. Williams and T. Grant; management committee. Messrs L. Bellworthy, E. Mooney, T. Grant, G. Longworth and J. Renner. A vote of thanks was passed to the club officials for their splendid work last year. Regret was expressed at the death of Mr G. Croll, a valued vice-president of the club, and a motion of sympathy with the relatives was passed. The annual report stated that the batting averages last season were very even, and consistently good performances were given by M. Wysocki, A, Mahoney, J, Davies, A. Bell, F. Hoar and F. Williams, special mention being made of J. Davies, a promoted junior, who gave really good displays both with the bat and ball. F. Hoar again headed the bowling averages and was well supported by A. Mahoney, K. Rew, A. Bell and J. Davies. The club won the championship for the fifth year in succession, this being largely due to the leadership of Frank Hoar.
