TRIBUTE PAID

MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT MR T. JORDAN’S VALUABLE SERVICES. HONORARIUM INCREASED. Tribute to the work of Mr T. Jordan (Mayor of Masterton) as president of the Municipal Association, was paid by the executive committee of the association at a recent meeting, when the president's honorarium was increased to £2OO per year. At the last meeting of the executive committee counsel advised that he had been approached by several members of the executive who had instructed him to promote legislation to enable the executive to increase the presidential honorarium to an amount of not more than £2OO. He advised that the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Parry, had expressed his deep appreciation of the work undertaken by the president of the association, and that no difficulty whatever had been jpeountered with the Government in obtaining the'passage of the measure. Mr A. E. Mansford (Palmerston North) referred to the great amount of work which was now being done by the president and to the valuable services which Mr Jordan was rendering to municipalities throughout New Zealand. He moved that the presidential honorarium be increased to £2OO per annum and that such increase take effect in the current year. The motion was carried unanimously and Mr Jordan expressed his thanks to the executive for its action.
