GREYTOWN

WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. • (“Times-Age” Special.) I At the monthly meeting of the Greytown branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Beu presided. A vote of sympathy was passed with Mrs G. Kearney, who had recently suffered a bereavement. Mrs J. Garrity was welcomed as a new member. In honour of her birthday Mrs Benseman was presented by Mrs Beu on behalf of the members, with a beautiful basket of flowers, the artistic work of Mrs D. Ingley. A voluntary collection taken up for the Leper Fund amounted to £2 3s 6d. A cake donated by Mrs A. Johnson was won by Noel Sturill. The sum of £3 16s raised from this competition will be handed to the Merchant Seamen Fund. Mrs Johnson was thanked for her effort. An exhibition of antiques and curios proved most interesting and educational. It was decided to hold a social gathering on November 12, final arrangements for which will be made at the October meeting. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames York, Vincen, F. Judd and Nisbet, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mesdames Barcham, R. O’Neal, Benseman and A. Humphrey offered to be hostesses at the next meeting. LABOUR PARTY ENJOYABLE GATHERING The euchre party and dance held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall by the ladies’ social committee of the Greytown Labour Party was thoroughly enjoyed by those present. The euchre winners were: Ladies: Mrs L. McHardy 1, Mrs Tamihana 2; men, Mr M. Hodder 1, Mrs S. Strang 2. Consolation prizes: Ladies, Miss B. Woodley; men, Master L. Woodley. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mr S. Te Tau. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr F. C. Clement. Personal Items. Mr W. O’Connor, inspector of the Wellington Education Board, was a visitor to Greytown yesterday. Constable S. Best, of Wanganui, is spending a few days in Greytown.

TOWN HALL “CAVALCADE.” There will be shown tonight a brilliant drama, “Cavalcade,” in which the chief roles are portrayed by Diana Wynyard, Clive Brook, Margaret Lindsay and Bonita Granville.
