GURKHA V.C.

INVESTITURE AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 26. The King held an open-air investiture in the inner quadrangle of Buckingham Palace. He decorated Subahdai’ Lal Bahadur Thapa, of the Gurkha Rifles, with the V.C. The King and Queen walked slowly down a line of Indian soldiers, shaking hands and speaking to each man in turn. Then the King pinned the Bronze Cross on the tunic of the Gurkha hero. Afterward the King presented other decorations won while the Fourth Indian Division was fighting in North Africa.
