<> LEAGUE OF MOTHERS VISIT TO BUCHANAN HOME. (“Times-Age” Special.) The members of the League of Mothers’ Choir entertained the inmates cf Buchanan Home recently. A short musical programme was rendered by the choir. Duets were sung by Mesdames Eccles and Brooking, and piano solos given by Mrs. Drysdale. The members supplied afternoon tea to the inmates. Sister Hughes thanked the choir for so generously giving up their time to entertain the inmates. Mrs. Brooking acted as pianist and Mrs. York as conductor. Personal Items. Miss M. Stringfellow, of Rotorua, is a visitor to Grey town. The friends of Mrs. J. Stringfellow, Main Street, will regret to hear that she is at present in the Greytown Hospital. Gunner and Mrs. C. Rees, of Hawera, are the guests of Mrs. Rees, Senr., McMaster Street. Mrs. W. J. Smith, of Greytown, has receved o cial notice that her husband has gained his commission as a pilot-officer in the R.A.F. Pilot-Officer W. J. Smith was educated at the Greytown District High School and prior to joining the forces was on the staff of the Post and Telegraph Department. Paddy’s Market. The Greytown Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild will hold a Paddy’s Market in the Crown Theatre on Friday, and indications are that it will be well supported. Poling Day. Polling day passed off quietly at Greytown. During the morning the booth staffs were kept busy. A heavy poll was expected but in the early afternoon the rush stopped, and the last three hours were comparatively quiet. In the evening a small crowd gathered in front of the Blue Bird Tea Rooms were Mr. J. Coleman had a result board. Mr. B. Roberts arrived about 9 p.m. and expressed his thanks to his supporters. Mr. Maher arrived at midnight and expressed his thanks to those who voted for him. Golf Club. Owing to the heavy rain on Saturday the official closing of the Greytown links was postponed till next week. The sub-committee set up to go into the question of new links has inspected the proposed site. It is understood that the new course, which is within easy distance of the town, will be nine holes. The committee’s report will be put before the members in the near future. TOWN HALL “CAVALCADE.” Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by the outstanding drama. “Cavalcade,” the chief roles in which are taken by Diana Wynyard. Clive Brook, Margaret Lindsay and Bonita Granville.
