4 The death has occurred at Pahiatua of Mr. Allen Lawrence, of Hukanui, at the age of 77 years. Mr W. P. Olson, of Palmerston North, who died at Palmerston North last week, was born in Pahiatua 57 years ago. He had lived at Ballance for many years, his parents having a farm there. In the recent Trinity College of. Music examinations, held in Carterton, the following pupils of Mrs S. J. Smart, Martinborough, were successful (all pianoforte): Senior, Jean Craig; intermediate, Gordon Hardie, Marjorie McLeod (merit). The Wairarapa friends of Mrs Douglas Hutchison (nee Beth Johnston) will regret to hear of her death, which occurred at Christchurch on Friday. She was well-known in the Wairarapa and was a daughter of Dr D. D. Johnston and the late Mrs. Johnston, of Sumner, Christchurch, and formerly of Carterton. A husband and four children (two daughter and two sons) are left to mourn their loss. Mr Gibb Johnston, Rongotai, and Mr. J. P. Johnston, 9 Coradine Street, Masterton, are brothers.
