WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
PARKVALE MEETING COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs R. P. Williams presided over a meeting of the Parkvale Women's Institute. Mrs Williams and Miss S. Rayner were appointed delegates to attend a council meeting in November. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs N. Peacock for an interesting demonstration of tenerife work, and she was presented with a shoulder spray. Miss E. Martin was the winner of a competition. Mesdames P. Andrews and C. Birch judged the monthly competitions. Mesdames J. Warrington, W. King and S. Conwell were the hostesses. The following were the results of the monthly competitions: — Darning of man’s sock: Mrs C. Jensen, 1; Mrs S. Cornwell, 2; Mrs R. Warrington, 3. Flowers, senior (large): Mrs R. Williams, 1; Mrs J. Warrington. 2; Mrs W. Hammond, 3. Small: Mrs R. Williams, 1: Mrs C. Jensen, 2; Mrs J. Jensen, 3. Flowers (junior): Miss S. Rayner first prizes for large and small varieties. Shrub: Mrs J. Warrington, 1; Mrs L. Nolan, 2; Mrs R. Williams, 3.
