PATRIOTIC WORK PARCELS FOR SERVICE MEN. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Ihuraua Ladies’ Patriotic Sewing J. Circle met at the home of Mrs C. R. . Judd, when 17 parcels were packed for ’ overseas. Seamen’s flannel undershirts were cut out by Mesdames Brunton and . Meredith and handed to members to sew at home. Mesdames Weston and Anderson were in charge of the “bring ' and buy” stall and Miss Gordon the competition. Mrs E. Dagg’s trophy was won by Mrs R. Dagg. Afternoon tea was provided. WOMEN’S DIVISION KIDDIES CARNIVAL EFFORT. The Ihuraua school children made a splendid effort last Friday afternoon in connection with the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union kiddies carnival. Each of the ten children on the roll took part in a short but varied programme of company songs ,part songs, recitations and a drill display. Those present were then invited to visit the stalls, lucky dip and competitions, all of which were in charge of the children themselves. Maire Dagg, the smallest pupil, presented Miss Gordon with a handsome sheaf of spring flowers. /Mrs Dagg thanked the children for their effort and called for three cheers for Miss Gordon and for the children, these being enthusiastically given. The mothers served afternoon tea. Loud applause greeted Miss Gordon’s statement that the effort had netted over £5.
