Labour Campaign.

A well attended meeting of electors of Kaituna was addressed by Mr J. Robertson, Labour candidate for the Masterton seat, on Saturday night. Mr Robertson, who received an attentive hearing, was accorded a vote of thanks. Mr Cuncjy presided.

Rugby Grounds. When referring to rentals charged the Wairarapa Rugby Union for the use of a playing ground in Masterton, Mr L. H. Smart, secretary of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, at a meeting of the committee on Saturday, stated that it had cost the union two to three hundred pounds a year for the rent and lease of the showgrounds. This obviously should have been the Memorial Park, as the Solway showgrounds have not been used for Rugby. Absentee Votes.

The procedure for recording absentee votes on election day is a very simple one. All that an absent voter has to do is to apply to the deputy returning officer, who will supply the names of the candidates for the electorate concerned and the voting paper. Voters in Masterton itself are asked to note that all postal .soldiers’ and absentee votes will be dealt with at the Masterton Courthouse by a special deputy returning officer. Application should therefore be made at this polling booth. St. John Ambulance Dance.

Another of the successful dances run by the St. John Ambulance Division was held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday night, when the hall was again crowded. Under the able direction of Mr K. Dean as M.C., the evening went with a swing, and dancing was enjoyed by all present. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss Fellingham and R. Johnson, U.S.M.C., while the Lucky Spot winners were Miss Atkins and Mr W. Rhoda. The music was supplied by Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys’ Orchestra, and an excellent supper was served by a ladies’ committee. Patrons are reminded that the next dance to be held by the St. John Ambulance will be held in the Masonic Hall on October 16.
