COURSING
CONCLUDING MEETING OF YEAR. A WIN FOR SPITFIRE JOE. The Wairarapa Coursing Club held a most successful two-day meeting at the Akura Plumpton yesterday and on Saturday. A handsome trophy donated by Mr F. Yule Junr. was competed for and was won. outright by Mrs R. McMahon’s Spitfire Joe. The meeting was the final one this year. Results:—Third round: Lucky Cinders (Miss J. Hanley, Masterton) beat The Nuisance (A. Robertson, Napier). 41-4; Gay Crest (S. Davis, Masterton) beat Cyclone (James and Grey, Masterton), 41-1; Gold Pareil (R. Gunn, Wellington) beat Lady Gail (P. Ratcliffe, Wellington), 6-4; Spitfire Joe beat Kookaburra (R. S. Kilgour, Auckland), 61-3. Semi-final: Gay Crest beat Lucky Cinders, 21-2; Spitfire Joe beat Gold Pariel, 31-11. Final: Spitfire Joe beat Lucky Cinders, 3-11. The coursing was of a high standard and there was a large attendance on both days.
