CARTERTON SALE LATE RATES MAINTAINED. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday:—A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward. Prices were on a par with late rates and a total clearance was affected under the hammer. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Prime hoggets, 33s to 38s; fat hoggets, 24s to 30s; light fat hoggets, 21s 6d to 235; fat ewes, 30s Id to 30s 6d; ewe hoggets, 17s 9d to 245. Cattle: Jersey heifers, just calved, £5, £8 ss, £8 10s to £10; Jersey cows on drop, £9 10s, £lO, £lO 10s, £ll 5s to £l2 10s; Jersey cows, springing, £6 10s to £7 10s; dairy cows, just calved, £7 to"£10 10s; Jersey heifers, on drop, £B, £8 ss, £8 10s, £lO 15s to £11; springing heifers, £5 ss, £6, £7 to £7 ss; fat cows, £6 10s, £7, £7 4s, £B, £lO 15s, £ll 10s to £ll 17s 6d; fat heifers, to £9 ss; forward cows, £3 15s, £4 3s to £4 10s; store cows, 255, £2 Ils to £2 17s; 2-year S.H. bull, to £5; cows and calves, 365, £2 12s 6d, £‘t to £5. Pigs: Forward stores, to £2 16s; store pigs, £2 Is, £2 4s, £2 6s to £2 10s; slips, 34s to 38s; weaners, good, 28s to 325; weaners, medium, 23s to 275; weaners, small, 17s to 21s; choppers, to £2 6s.
