STRUCK BY LIGHTNING

HOUSE IN WELLINGTON SUBURB. CHIMNEY WRECKED & OTHER DAMAGE DONE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Lightning struck a house in Wadestown at the height of a storm at 1.40 p.m. yesterday and did considerable damage, wrecking the chimney and completely dislodging a fireplace, tile surround and grate in the lounge. The house, 89 Sefton Street, is occupied by Mr J. Ralph. Mrs Ralph was fortunately in town at the time and the house was empty. Marks on taps and basins reveal that the lightning traversed the whole of the water system and almost completely encircled the house.
