ALFREDTON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Alfredton Women’s Institute there was a good' attendance presided over by Mrs Hull. The meeting was an enjoyable one as is always the case where members of an institution wholeheartedly work for its general welfare. Excellent work is being done by the Institute in connection with the patriotic efforts. A case of provisions donated by members was packed and sent to the A.N.A. Club in Wellington. Mrs Hull made a presentation to Mrs Walker, who has since left the district. Mrs Hull expressed regret at losing such a splendid worker as Mrs Walker as she had rendered the Institute valuable service. Personal Items. A number of friends met at the residence of Mrs V. Payne and entertained Mrs 0. Walker, who has since left the district. Mrs Walker was presented with a dainty vase and lovely posy made by Mrs Hartley. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the lad- j ies. Mr and Mrs 0. Walker left during the weekend to take up their residence in Eketahuna. Vic. Payne Junr. has entered the Pahiatua Hospital where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. He is making satisfactory progress towards recovery, A memorial service in conjunction with the day of prayer was held at Alfredton on Sunday afternoon in memory of the late Mr G. Napier. The Rev. D. McNeur conducted the service, which was a very impressive one. There was a large congregation, the attendance being representative of the district.
