MEETING AT HASTWELL. f COMPETITION WINNERS. 3 ' I ■ (“Times-Age" Special.) s The monthly meeting of the Hast--1 well Women’s Institute was presided a over by Mrs K. Ngatuere. ' The competition for the parcel fund conducted by Mrs K. Ngatuere was won by David Morris. The game organised by the president resulted: Mrs Morris 1, Mrs J. Dick 2, Miss E. Dick 3 Mrs Morris gave a very interesting account of the business which took place at the Women’s Institute conference at Gisborne. The motto given by Miss E. Larsen was: “If a thing pleases, say so.” The monthly competitions resulted as follows:—Best knitted balaclava: Senior, Mrs Madsen 1, Mrs Seymour 2, Mrs - Sigvertsen 3. Junior, Miss E. Larsen 1, * Miss I. Madsen 2, Miss E. Dick 3. Best anemone: Mrs E. Sigvertsen 1, Mrs Seymour 2. Ten balaclavas were knitted to send to soldiers. ’ Afternoon tea was served by Mrs J. 1 Dick. OPAKI. ) WOMEN'S FRANCHISE JUBILEE. (“Times-Age" Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute, Mrs Beetham presided. Leaflets in reference to the golden jubilee of the Women’s Franchise Movement in New Zealand were received. One of these, setting out the position of British women (including those of New Zealand) who marry aliens, was discussed. The roll call, “an interesting book,” brought a ready response. The competitions resulted:—Cooking: Mrs Mannell, 1; Mrs Harris, 2; Mrs Malmo, 3.
