SITTING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE. TWO CASES DISMISSED. The Wairarapa Armed Forces Appeal Board concluded its sitting in Masterton yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs R. R. Burridge (chairman), L. T. Daniell and F. Cole (members) and G. F. Whitlock (secretary and Crown representative). In the following cases the name of the person lodging the appeal is given in parentheses:— Appeals dismissed: Charles Porter, carpenter (J. R. Russell); Gordon Thomas Hayes, civil servant (reservist), reservists not to be called prior to November 30, 1943. Adjourned sine die: Ernest Melville Small, farm manager (Estate R. B. Burling); Arthur David McKay, farm manager (Neil McKay and Sons, Ltd.); John William McKay, farm manager (Neil McKay and Sons, Ltd.); Olaf •Roydon Nikolaison, farm hand (O. H. Nikolaison); Joseph James Payton, dairy farm hand (J. H. Payton); Ernest Kemp. Day, shepherd (Director of National Service); Alan Compton, shearer -(Wairarapa Production Council); Sydney Ivan Daken, farm manager (A. H. Falloon); John L. L. Wood, civil servant (Director of National Service); Noel Bentley Cathie, branch factory manager (Cathie and Sons, Ltd.); Frederick Andrew Irvine, timber yard (C. E. Daniell Ltd.); Noel Clifford Reynolds, shearer (Wairarapa Production Council); Alfred George Smith, farm hand (J. H. Cameron Estate).
Decision was reserved in the case of the following appeals, which, unless otherwise stated were lodged by Transport Wairarapa Ltd.: Athol William Gray, Allan Francis Gray, and R. J. Kilminster, transport drivers; Kenneth John Aplin, transport driver (Director of National Service); Eric Royden Gray, transport driver, and Vivian Royden Maguire, service car driver.
