BRITISH PRISONERS

POSITION IN SWITZERLAND MUST REMAIN FOR TIME BEING. BUT WILL NOT BE INTERNED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, September 13. Several thousands of British prisoners of war who escaped from Italy to Switzerland will not be interned, says the “Evening News.” The legal position is that .they are immediately returnable to their country of origin, but because there is no channel of communication with Switzerland by which they can reach Britain, they will have to remain for the time being in Swiss territory.
