The Italian captain of one plane said relations between the Italian air crews and ground staffs and their German counterparts had been unbearable for a long time. There was open friction, often leading to blows, and orders from senior officers vzould be disobeyed by a junior of the opposite nationality. “We were sick of it all,” he added.
