Broadcasts from India report a vast earthquake in Japan. Osaka, on Honshu, the largest island of Japan, was-among the seriously damaged towns. Hundreds .of buildings were demolished, but the casualties cannot yet be estimated. A Tokio broadcast announced a rather severe earthquake in southwestern Japan last evening. Great damage was done at Tottori, 400 miles west of Tokio. Houses collapsed and many were killed. Rescuers are still searching in the ruins. The earthquake was also felt at Kobe, Osaka, and Hiroshima, the radio added.
