FEATHERSTON
RED CROSS SOCIETY MEETING OF SUB-CENTRE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a general meeting of the local sub-centre of the Red Cross Society, Mrs Sharp presided over a good attendance. It was reported that the four members who sat for the Home Nursing examination passed, two gaining honours. The Monday card parties were still proving very successful and thanks are due to Mesdames Carlyon, Baker and Elliott for making these gatherings such a success. Those who so generously send in gifts and donations each week were thanked. Major M. Williams spoke on the workings of the medical mobile unit in the Middle East and was accorded a vote of thanks. The following articles have been despatched to the centre:—Four longsleeved pullovers, 31 surgeons’ towels, 53 pads, 5 covers, 1 balaclava, 1 pair of pyjamas, 4 face cloths, 1 pair of mittens, 1 skull cap, 11 handkerchiefs. Golf. In a ladies’ competition at the weekend, Mrs R. Donald was first and W. H. Rowles and L. Benton (equal) second. Dance in Town Hall. The Junior, Patriotic Committee held a successful dance in the Town Hall on Staurday night, there being a large attendance. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs Ashton’s orchestra. Extras were played by Misses G. Fraser and H. Saba. Mr Ashton was M.C. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss E. Davis and Mi* D. Fellingham, and a lucky spot dance by Miss M. Lawson and partner. COSY THEATRE “MOONLIGHT IN BALI.” Tonight there will be shown the sparkling comedy-drama, “Moonlight in Bali,” in which Madeleine Carroll, Allan Jones, Fred .Mac Murray and Akim Tamiroff are featured.
