HARRIER ACTIVITIES

KIATERE CLUB. A NOVELTY RACE. On Saturday a hares and hounds novelty race was held by members of the Kiatere Harrier Club. The hares, C. Summer and W. McDonald, left 15 minutes before the rest of the pack who were out to catch the hares before they reached home. A fast pace was set until the river-bed was reached where .they encountered numerous false trails laid by the hares. The first of the hounds home was J. Maunsell who was followed by K. Greaves and G. Hayes. Next Saturday the 3 1-8 mile junior championship will be held. This race, which should be closely contested, will start at 2.30 p.m. from the park. The seniors will hold a run starting at 2.15 p.m. A training run on Thursday night will start at 7.30 o’clock.
