CARTERTON

LICENSING COMMITTEE BUSINESS AT YESTERDAY’S MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., presided at a meeting of the Wairarapa Licensing Committee held in the Carterton Courthouse yesterday. There were also present: Messrs F. W. Smith, J. Purvis, C. Holmes, F. W. Wood and W. C. M. Sorensen. The transfer of the licence of the Blairlogie Hotel from Thos. Peet to P. Burns was granted. The licences of Messrs Brice and Rowlands which had been held over from the annual meeting until repairs had been completed, were granted. Personal Items. The funeral of the late Mrs Martha Jane Diamond took place yesterday afternoon at the Clareville Cemetery and was largely attended. The services at the house and the graveside were conducted by the Rev. W. F. Stent. The pall-bearers were Messrs E. McKenzie, C. Moore, L. H. Smart and A. Knutson. Many beautiful wreaths were sent, testifying to the high esteem in which the late Mrs Diamond was held. Miss Dawn Moorcock, of High Street, Carterton, as the result of an accident, cut a leg severely. Several stitches were inserted in the wound.
