CENTRAL SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. HEADMASTER’S REPORT. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Central School Committee was held last evening. There were present: Messrs. W. R. Nicol tin the chair), G. Masters, G. Bilderbeck, S. V. Dixon, A. E. Nelson, S. I. Gibbs and P. H. Shaw. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Butler and T. A. Russell. A statement of finance was presented and showed a satisfactory balance and accounts amounting to £5 18s 6d were passed. Applications for the use of the hall for political meetings were dealt with and it was noted that both the Central and East schools would be required as polling booths. The headmaster, Mr E. G. .Coddington, who was present, read his monthly report. This showed a roll of 6z9 and a percentage of 91.5 per cent for the term just ended. Cocoa amounting to 2618 cups had been supplied and the funds produced at id per cup showed a deficit which the committee was asked to make up. Thanks were due to the Parents’ Association for supplies of library books, a spinning wheel and a film-strip projector. The museum cases had been repaired and re-arranged and the museum was once again ready for visitors. The report was adopted. Repair work was still being carried cut to the brick building. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mr Harris for his excellent work in the grounds.
