SUDDEN DEATH

MR W. McALIECE COLLAPSES IN STREET. While cycling along Lincoln Road, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon, Mr Walter McAliece, aged 63 years, collapsed from a heart attack and died. He was found unconscious by Mr J. Paku and Nurse Humphries and died almost immediately. No inquest will be held. The late Mr McAliece, who resided at 73 Bentley Street, was born in Victoria, Australia, in 1880. He came to New Zealand forty years ago and was employed as foreman by the Masterton County Council. Owing to health reasons he left the employ of the County Council and worked for a time at the Waingawa Freezing Works. He was a delegate of the General Labourers’ Union and was a member of the Labour Representation Committee. Mr McAliece is* survived by his widow, a son overseas and a married daughter, to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended. There will be a private cremation.
