NEW LANDING

MADE BY ALLIED TROOPS IN NEW GUINEA FOLLOWING ON BOMBARDMENT BY WARSHIPS. ENEMY BASE AT LAE ISOLATED. LONDON. September 5. A new Allied landing is reported in New Guinea. A communique from General MacArthur’s headquarters states that the landing was made in force! by Australian and American troops on the coast of the Huon Gulf. The landing operation was preceded by a bombardment of shore positions by Allied warships. The Australians are under the command of General Blarney. The landing has cut off the _ enemyforces in the Lae area from reinforcement.
