ANOTHER BIG ATTACK

MADE BY R.A.F. ON BERLIN THOUSAND TONS OF BOMBS. DROPPED IN 20 MINUTES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. September 5. A strong force of R.A.F. bombers pounded Berlin on. Friday night, dropping .1000 tons of bombs in 20 minutes. Pilots reported a wide circle of fiercely burning fire. The Germans used different-de-fence tactics on this occasion. There were few night fighters and more anti-aircraft fire. Twenty-two of our bombers are missing. This is the third big raid on the German capital in a fortnight, and the total bomb-load dropped was somewhere about 4000 tons. In the first raid more than 1700 tons was dropped, and the second raid last Tuesday was also “very heavy.”

ATTACKS BY DAY ON ENEMY AIRFIELDS & OTHER TARGETS. LARGE OIL FIRE STARTED IN HOLLAND. LONDON, September 5. Enemy airfields in Holland were attacked today by R.A.F. Bostons. Bombs fell right across the field and one stick went among four aircraft parked on the ground. A large oil fire was started. American Marauders went for important railway targets at Ghent. Escorting Spitfires shot down three enemy planes and damaged others. Attacks were also made by Typhoon bombers on enemy shipping off the Dutch coast. A number of barges were sunk oi' damaged.
