LATEST OFFICIAL FORECAST DULL & SHOWERY. SOUTHERLY WINDS REACHING GALE FORCE. The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Strong southerly winds reaching gale force at times on the coast. Weather dull and showery. Temperatures cold with snow on ranges. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Only a slow improvement. The Waingawa Sub-Station, P.W.D., reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:—Shade temperature, maximum 56.3, minimum 40.5; terrestrial, 40; sunshine, 7 hours 6 minutes; rain, 53 points. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 36 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. PHASES OF THE MOON. SEPTEMBER.
