DASHING EXPLOIT

AIR ATTACK ON DUTCH CANAL SHORT CUT FOR GERMAN SHIPS. THREE LOCKS SMASHED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, September 2. Hurricanes, flying at tree-top height over Holland today, carried out the most dashing exploit since the bombing of the Mohne Dam, smashing a series of lock gates vital to the German shipping lanes in Holland. Weaving through a storm of shellfire they repeatedly scored bull’s-eyes against three locks of the Dansweert Canal, which is a short cut for seagoing ships between Antwerp and German pons, and an important link with the Ruhr for barge traffic.
